Lesson 3 – How To Use Web 2.0 Social Networking Sites To Maximize Your Marketing Efforts

This lesson is going to be a little long but it contains tons of good information that you can put to use immediately.
Social networking sites offer you a great way to get yourself known. Social networking sites allow you to create a profile and then network with other users on the site. Most social networking sites allow you to join groups so that you can meet up with other like-minded individuals. The thing is that you need to watch how you use social networking site to promote your business since you do not want to be seen as pushy. No one likes a pushy salesperson. You have what is known as a hard sale and a soft sale. When using sites; such as MySpace and Facebook, or any other social networking site, you want to use soft sale. When using sites. This means you want them to know what you are offering without feeling like it is being shoved in their face. I will break down a few sections of a social networking site and show you how you can soft sale people.
Creating Your Profile:
This is your main area that you will want to do your promoting. Remember that your website should have your business profile on it. With that in mind, you are going to make your profile on the social networking site a little more personal.
Take advantage of the fact that this is an informal place so you are free to be personal. MySpace allows you to put information on your favorite movies, music, and interests. Those areas should be filled in and give people an insight into you. After all we all feel more comfortable purchasing products and services from those we know, like and trust.
In a brick and mortar business, your customer comes in and you deal with them face to face. During those transactions there are openings for you and the customer to talk and share personal information. For example, take going to the furniture store. During the conversation, you may ask the salesman how many kids you have and you at this point will learn home many kids the salesman may have at home. It is this personal information that helps to build bonds that forge business relationships. The next time you go to the store for furniture, you may request that same salesperson to assist you.
We do not have this chance on the internet. Therefore, you need to take advantage of the chance you are given to let the potential customer see you as not only a professional but also as someone who is just like them.
I use my profile in Facebook to promote my business that I have. My main profile features a slide show of various pictures of my family and myself. These are just some random home shots and captions of who everyone is. This is my personal area on the internet and I use it in conjunction to promote my business. The informal layout and personal feel of my profile had driven a large amount of traffic to my website.
As you can see, your are getting personal with those that are visiting your profile, while at the same time, you have made mention of your website and have placed a very obvious link on your profile to your website. You are not pushing your business by speaking only of the business and the link is your soft sale if they are interested.
Joining Groups:
Most social networking sites have a group section where you can find groups with your interests to join. The groups usually have the members main profile picture and name displayed for all group members to see as well as a forum area for all group members to discuss things relevant to the group. This is a great way to put your profile to work for you and start sending traffic to your website.
The part where most people fail to realize when using groups to market their websites is to not spam the group forums. So many people join up with a group and then start putting links to their websites up in the group forum in hopes of driving people to their websites. This is poor manners within a group and will usually result in not only you being banned from the group but also your account with the social networking site being shut down. This does not benefit you in any way and is the quickest way to lose credibility as a professional.
So how do you use the group to drive traffic to your website? Well, this is simple. This is how it works. You already have created a nice personal profile that does point to your website. The purpose of the group is to network with other like minded people and in return you can count on the fact that they will check your profile out. Once they have checked your profile out, if there is mention to your business, which there should be, then in most cases they will check this out as well.
Just take part in the discussions and leave the rest to your profile. You do not want to push your business too hard in front of people in the group forums. Just relax and socialize and the rest will fall into place on this one.
Check to see if the social networking sites you are using has a signature area for group forum postings. You can use the signature areas to place a piece of text linked to your business so that all of your postings at least advertise in an appropriate way. For the text just put your business name and then link it to your website and you are done.
Onsite Blogs:
Social networking sites; such as Facebook or any other social networking site, have blogs that you can add to your profile. When you create your blog entries, the first few entries’ titles and a brief overview are displayed on your profile page. This allows other users to find your blog entries easier. Depending on your business or service, there are several ways that you can utilize the blog that these social networking sites offer.
For example, take that you are offering a service for custodial parents to collect on past due child support. You can use the blog to write up your own mini articles that deal with you the chance to offer useful and valuable information separate from your web site so that your web site is not overly cluttered with tons of information. Show those in need of your service how you can help them after showing them why they need the help. Be factual but creative and always remember to direct them back to your website.
For those that have products to sell, social networking sites are a great place to show case some of your products. Take the time to create some catchy entries for several of your products. Most social networking sites do not seem to have the ability to put pictures in your blog entry, so make sure that your words do the describing and get your point across. Tell people how that product in that entry post will benefit them. If you only have one product, don’t worry you can still pull this off without sounding repetitive.
Let’s take an example like green tea as a product that you may be selling. Now you only have this one product but you are going to still use the blog to catch the interest of potential customers. Your first post would of course describe the product and some of the benefits of your product. Now you have your entry and it points to your website. A couple days later or so you post an entry that may discuss your company’s sales rate on that product. You can say something about the sales rate and how consumers’ purchases shows that this product is in hot demand. Are there any new studies whether formal or informal out on your product? Post your finding about this as well. All of these posts are getting you seen and your business out there for all of your potential customers.
Remember to point back to your website so that you can close the sale. Use words; such as, “Click Here to Get Yours Now”, “Click Here To Learn More”, “Click Here to Find Out if This is Right for you” and so forth. Just let them know where to click. I found if I put Click Here and some other words, more people did go from my Facebook blog entry to my website. Now, if you are offering a service, you can post your business phone number at the bottom of each blog entry.
Don’t be afraid to get creative and get their attention. Remember to keep our blog fresh because a stale, untouched blog will lose readers. Since most blogs that are on site have an entry date on them, even a new reader will go elsewhere if your entry dates are old. This is an important part of marketing with a blog and if you cannot keep them fresh, then it will work against you. Now your posts do not have to be lengthy all the time. In fact, you want to keep them short but to the point. So about five to ten minutes every other day should be relatively all you need.
So, let’s recap how to use social networking sites. First create a personal informal profile that shows you as a person. Next, find groups that fit with your interests and join them. Never spam the groups. This is just your way of getting yourself seen as pushing your product or service. Remember that social networking sites are just one form of the Web 2.0 web site types.

Asea home based business opportunity is a direct sales company that is involved in the health and wealth industry. Asea is the only product, so far, that Asea home business is marketing.
Asea offers a business opportunity to those who are interested in achieving financial independence. This according to their website. There are seven way to earn money in Asea.
They also state on their website that by “simply working hard and following this proven system of business building, you earn money.” The proven system they are referring to is to share your own Asea product story with others.
To join, you must purchase the starter kit, which is not mentioned during my research. It is stated that you can find out the price of the starter kit from your sponsor. But no matter, I am only interested in the kind of training they offer their representatives and I did not find any mention of the specified of any kind of training offered other than what I stated above; share you story with others.
As you know multi-level marketing has a very high attrition rate. In fact, between 30-90 days, on average, is when people will quit and look for another opportunity. You have to ask yourself why they quit and my response is there are a number of reasons. First and foremost is the fact that many are not making any money. The second fact, which most MLM’s and network marketing companies neglect to have as part of their company business model and some kind of formal training. You see, if many of Asea reps and other reps from other companies were trained properly, they would have much more success than they are having. If they are having success, meaning they are generating customers and/or prospects and making money, many MLM and network marketing representatives would stay. Essentially, marketing skills and duplication go hand-in-hand. This should be obvious but I rarely see a company that offers offline, online or both kinds of trainings.
But there is a solution to lack of home business training. You don’t need your company to train you if you are resourceful.
Success in any business is going to require skills in marketing. The internet has become one of the most powerful tools for building a business. Most mlm and network marketing companies are still training their members to use “old school” marketing strategies, such as the Asea home business. How To Rebound From Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing (FHTM) Lawsuit

If you recall, it wasn’t too long ago that Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing (FHTM) was issued a cease and desist order as well as its principals, Paul Oberson, Jeff Oberson, and Thomas Mills for violations of North Dakota transient merchant consumer fraud and home solicitation sales laws. This occurred December 10, 2009.
The problem was that FHTM failed to get a license that is required by the state. This doesn’t sound like a big problem but this one violation opened the door to more scrutiny. There seemingly were more accusations as to the possibility of whether the company was violating the pyramid law in North Dakota. North Dakota prohibits promotional pyramid schemes in which the participant pays for the opportunity to receive income primarily from the recruitment of other participants rather than the sales of products and services.
But, this matter appeared to be a minor thing and quickly cleared up or it appeared to have cleared up.
On the Kentucky.com web site, there was a report on March 16th, 2010 that the state of Montana, after a five month investigation found Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing to be an illegal pyramid scheme.
Due to its violation, FHTM has been banned from the state of Montana. The company is prohibited from doing business there.
Fortune Hi-Tech has many thousands of representatives in the U.S, Canada, and Great Britain. In order to become a representative with Fortune, one has to pay $299.00, then sells products and services in health & beauty, services; such as GE Home Security, AT&T, Sprint, and Nextel, entertainment; such as, dish network, etc, and communications like their wireless shop, voice connect, and more.
The person at the top of the pyramid receives commissions from each sale and each new membership, which is considered to be legal because they sell products. This is Fortune’s side of the story. On the other hand, Montana disagrees.
Montana feels that FTHM is not a multi-level distribution company, but rather a pyramid company because the compensation each participant in the program receives is derived primarily from obtaining the participation of other persons in the program and not the sale of goods and services. Hence, the cease and desist order.

But, I am not here to add fuel to the fire by adding my opinion to this political rhetoric. What I want to share, in particular to those who are members of Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing is this. MLM Opportunities have strange ways of presentation. While you may search heavily for it everywhere, they will stand there silently, waiting to be found. They will not knock on your door or pat on your back to grab your attention.
They will stand there; appear in disguise waiting for you to recognize them and lift the veil from their faces. They demand action from you, yet they won’t give the slightest hint to its existence. Why?

They recognized an opportunity and took action. The had eyes for the opportunity and audacity for taking action. That is what makes them stand apart in addition to the wealth they have acquired.

I just got word of some news regarding the ILearningGlobal (ILG) shutdown. Why the shutdown? What happened that caused it to shutdown?

1. Be prepared to handle rejection.
Who said that any kind of selling was easy. But it all comes down to attitude. This means that you must show yourself to be teachable to your upline and be willing to teach your downline members the same system. So the key is to train your frontline members, then train them to train their frontline members. As you gain leadership experience in the business, then you can occasionally pick up the slack for a colleague. The important thing is that your team members understand that effort is required on their part or they cannot expect your support.

Pay Per Click Optimization Tactics

At this point, we are no longer just gathering data, but we are attempting to gather some insight into our pay per click campaigns. There is only a small percentage of data that really matters. It is the insights you gain and now it is the actions that you take. Actions are only possible when you have very clear measurements. What you can’t measure, you can’t improve and what you can’t measure, you can’t act upon.
The reports and data are not going to be enough. There is no shortage of data in the average program. There are dozens of reports that you can run in the Google report center. There are also tools like Google Analytics. There are software and keyword tools. Despite all that is available, you still have to understand the difference between data and a measurable action. You have to be sure that every action you take, that you are gauging what is increasing your campaign performance or bringing you forward or backwards.
When you take an action, it is essential that you measure that action to see if it works. This is one of the things people will do. They are not scared to take the action. They will take the initial data, look at it and see that it is not meeting their business objectives. They will then take the actions to make improvements, but they neglect to monitor and measure those actions to actually see what is working and what is not working, thus allowing them to continue with their pay per click optimization tactics.
For example, if you are looking at the CTR metrics, that is one thing. But, if you take action, you are going to write a new ad and create a split test with the intent of increasing that CTR. This is a great action step. But, if you just run to split test for the sake of having two ads and you don’t measure which ad is the definitive winner, you are wasting your time. Pay per click optimization is about taking out all of the guess work and all of the data you are compiling and turning it into known factors so that you can build on it and continue to get more of the good stuff that is known and eliminate the bad stuff that is the unknown.
When you are looking at your ad copy revisions that you have made and that split test you created within you pay per click campaigns, it is essential that you quickly and efficiently make a decision on the winner. One ad is going to out-perform the other either on the CTR metric or conversion metric or both. Once you have gathered this information, you need to delete the loser and then retest again.
Again, if you don’t partner that action with measurements, you will fall short in terms of campaign performance. You will continue to move in this endless cycle of doing things in your account but never knowing exactly what is working and what is not. This can be kind of an emotional roller coaster. It is a lot easier if you track everything that is happening so that you can continue to understand why the improvements are taking place. Also, you need to understand even more why things fail.
Tracking your conversions is essential to measuring your results and tracking those campaigns that are generating the most leads; tracking which ad headlines and text ads the highest percentage of leads and have the best conversion rates.
Looking at all of the key metrics in your account and looking to attract those conversions, tracking which components in your account are making those conversions possible; which components are driving those conversions and driving the highest percentage of them, thus allowing you to be very focused on improving elements within your campaign that are generating good results as well as looking at those elements that are causing harm to your campaign.
Pay per click optimization strategies encompasses a process of gathering data, making the decisions based on relationships and recognizing the gaps between your current campaign performance and your goals. Next, you bridge those gaps by continued action and improvements and measure the results of those actions to gain insight into what is working and what is not working.
One thing that is very easy in Google, one of the easiest to do in regards to optimizing your Google campaigns is to notice what isn’t working. You know it is not working if it is not bringing you closer to your goals. If you are running a campaign and it is not generating a descent amount of leads usually is a good indicator that your ad group, campaign, or ad copy is not working. Is it producing leads at the right conversion rate, meaning are a high number of people taking this keyword in your ad group and going to your landing page and opting in, are they buying? If a high conversion rate is present, this is probably good. But having a keyword with a very low conversion rate; such as 3%, indicates that there is not enough interest there and there is definitely a gap between the keyword and your ad. What you will find is that either there is a low quality audience or not interested in your offer, or the keyword is not specific enough, whatever the problem, it just is not working.
A low conversion rate, most times, is a very clear indication that something is not working and that there is something wrong there. The higher conversion rates indicate a higher level of interest. They are more likely to convert to sales. The conversion rate is another key metric that can be used to determine whether something in your campaigns is not working.
Another metric for what is not working is the Cost Per Click metric, or CPC. If you have a set budget and you know that the market value of your lead is around $6.00 and you can afford $6.00 a lead and still make a profit, if the lead is costing you $25.00, it does not matter how good that keyword is converting or how everything looks on paper, a $25.00 CPC shows you that something is off. Thus, the CPC is another great way for determining what is working and what is not working.
Once you have determined what is not working, you are going to delete those elements. You are either going to pause the ad group or delete the ad group. Another step is to pause the keyword or delete it completely. Either way, you are going to need to shut it down as soon as it shows you, after 20 or 30 clicks, that it is just not producing. It is over priced, low traffic, with no conversions, and displays lack of interest, which means little to no sales.
You are always going to want to plug those holes on a constant basis. With Google, everything is going to be a test and a lot of it is not going to work. This is why it is essential that you see what is not working and quickly act upon it, by taking it out so that it doesn’t continue to bleed your ad dollars. If you don’t act quickly, you can fall behind in the race very quickly.

starting out in a new market or you may have a market where you don’t know what your metrics are and you are going to have to develop them. Often this is the case because every business is unique in terms of their goals, their budgets; everything is unique within you business. In situations like this, you are going to need to set some campaign benchmarks that are measurable that pertain to your business, that are obtainable just for your. You want to set something that is specific to you, not broad. This will be something that you will need to develop over time. Again, this is an ongoing process. Therefore, optimization is going to remain there for as long as you manage an advertising online campaign.
Through the optimization and data, when you gain those insights, you want to immediately set some benchmarks for what works. You want to be clear on your benchmarks; such as, what your CTR should look like. You want to know what it should be in your market. You know that when you get a certain benchmark, you show up at the top of the page. This is something you are going to have to watch from your traffic and experience.
Next, what about your CPC? For example, you notice that you make the greatest profits at the end of the month. This can be determine if you are simply taking your ad spend that you put into Google, the entire amount of ad dollars that you used for your Google advertising and you are just adding up all the sales, revenue, and profit that was generated during that month and compare those two metrics. When you do this, you are going to find out which months are more profitable, which ones are not as profitable and you know which campaigns. You may have noticed that based on your numbers, that your CPC, there is a certain Cost Per Click that always tends to produce a profit. You also know that if you go much over that CPC, you go into negative, no matter how well you do, just based on performance metrics, that there is a certain CPC, that if you pay it, you are certain to lose money whereas if you keep your CPC at or below a specific CPC, you are guaranteed for profit. So, having a Cost Per Click benchmark is something that you will develop over time.
Then there is positions. It is important to know which positions are the sweet spot for your campaigns. This is going to vary from keyword to keyword and campaign to campaign. It is never going to be the same. This has a lot to do with behavior. It has a lot to do with the buying behavior. Are your prospects buying, are they shopping, are they browsing and how does their behavior relate back from the keyword query. You need to know which positions are working and which behaviors are producing sales. Overall, you want to know what is producing you the most profits and sales and good results.
You should also always have some conversion numbers. You should always try to beat your conversion metrics. The two metrics you are always going to try to beat ever day, that will make you the number one advertiser in your category or your market, is to increase your CTR (Google ranks everything on this) and your Conversion rates (this is the ratio you bench everything on). The conversion rate reflect the leads and the sales opportunities in your pipeline. The CTRs reflect for Google, the value in your traffic, the value in giving you those positions. Every time Google puts you at the top of the page, there is a value in that. Google has to know that if they give you those positions, they are going to get paid in clicks. If it does, they will continue to put you there over and over again.
In conclusion, you should always be improving the CTR metrics as well as the conversion rate metric, then you will know that you are going to get the most high quality leads for the lowest price over time. Alivamax business opportunity offers many things to its members. There are great products and a compensation plan, but what about training for the Alivamax distributors. The distributors will not succeed on the products and a comp plan alone. Many of the Alivamax members will need to be taught how to market the business. Is this happening and is the training sufficient enough to help them overcome struggles and attain success?
What is the right way to train Alivamax distributors? First, promoting the Alivamax business and the products is not the right direction to take in building a successful business. The best way to build a business is to promote YOU. The reason is having a business is about people and people join people, not businesses. So, marketing YOU is the best approach to take.
Now, most MLMs and network marketing companies train you to make a list of your friends and family. This means you spend a lot of time chasing your family and friends down and then when that runs out, and it will, you start chasing after strangers. This means you are marketing to people who have no interest in your products nor your business opportunity. Why this approach is taken by most MLMs and network marketing companies is not clear. But, the end result is the Alivamx distributors will experience lot of rejection; in particular those who are just starting a business. They will be subjected to a lot more rejection than the more skilled salesperson. In order to succeed using this marketing style requires you to go through the numbers, meaning talk to a lot of people because most will say no. In fact, on average, 97%-98% will say no. If you want success, you should be talking to thirty people per day. Who has the time?
I believe that these companies know that many, who join, will fail at this kind of marketing and eventually quit. The ones who remain are usually people who have some kind of background in sales or building a business and these are individuals who will make Alivamax Worldwide a lot of money.
A company does not need a whole lot of people to help them become a multi million or even a billion dollar company. I know of one company, who shall remain nameless, built a billion dollar company off just five people. The company started over 25 years ago and they are still around. So, having thousands or even hundreds of thousands of people leave a company is not going to hurt them as long as the ones, who can sale and/or build a large organization, remain.
It may seem that I have gotten off track, but my point is this. The people you should target are other network marketers or other MLM’ers. These are individuals who know most about the network marketing industry and will be more open to what you have to offer. Other people who have little to no experience in network marketing or MLMs will see you as working for a company that is involved in a pyramid scheme.
The next step is to learn how to market your business. This is crucial because without skills in marketing, it is a guarantee that you will fail. Another reason is that having skills in marketing will attract other MLM’ers and network marketers to you. What they want is your knowledge and your skills. This is the way to position yourself as a leader in the industry. Instead of you chasing others, they will be chasing you. Less work, less headache, more success in your business.
So, what kind of training do you need? This all depends on how you want to market your business. Do you want to do the offline marketing, online marketing or a little bit of both? Really it does not matter what approach you take, you just need to find a mentor, resource, or system so that you can learn the right way to market a business. This is what I had to do because, like you, my company did not offer much training and the only kind of training they offered was to make a list and, although I tried, this did not work. In fact, I tried for four years and nothing. I wanted to use the internet and did find a fantastic system that has taught me a lot about marketing on the internet and I am generating leads and making more money than I ever did during the four years combined at my previous opportunity.
In essence, the information I am giving you is referred to as “Attraction Marketing” created by Mike Dillard, who used this very method and went from waiting tables to making a 7-figure income in just 18 months. I use the same methodology and, based on my experience, it definitely does work. There are three principles that you must apply in order to implement the Attraction Marketing methodology. Of course, I do my marketing using the internet, but you can apply the same principles to your offline marketing, if using offline marketing is what you prefer. The three principles are:
1.) Generate leads meaning people you have communicated with and completed some kind of presentation to them about you and what you have to offer. Thus, you now have their information; such as name, phone number, and email address(optional).
2.) Build a relationship with those leads, either by calling them or, if using the internet, the autoresponder is one way in which to build relationships. But, if you have a phone number, calling them is the best way in which to build relationships.
3.) Market to those leads. By building a relationship with your leads, you can market to them your products, services, or opportunities. They now trust you enough to accept most of what you have to offer them. People, generally speaking, will not buy from strangers. They prefer to buy from those they know, like, and trust.
In conclusion, I believe that what Alivamax business has to offer is substantial as far as MLMs and network marketing opportunities go. I am not saying that this company is better than most, by no means, but it does have a good business model. But, what is lacking is the right training that will help Alivamax distributors to succeed. Everyone should be given the opportunity to experience making their dreams come true so why not get them started in the right direction. But for those individuals who happen to join and opportunity that does not offer sufficient marketing training, it is not the end of the world. There are mentors, resources, and systems that will help you get the marketing skills you need in order to overcome all of the reasons why most people fail in the MLM and network marketing industry.
