There are many webmasters that consider articles for their site to be a very tedious task.  Many people who need to write articles usually procrastinate as much as they can to delay the amount of writing they need to do.  This is because they dread writing articles.  Writing articles require research for topics and writing down original materials is too taxing for most people.

Generate Pay-Per-Click Free Leads

How does one generate pay-per-click free leads?  First of all, free leads do not necessarily mean you don’t have to pay any money.  What the statements means is that you pay for your lead generation, but the cost you put out costs less than what you earn as income from the lead flow generated from pay-per-click.  The idea is to make more than what you pay.  This means that anything above and beyond what you have paid for lead generation is profit, but not only have you made a profit, the money earned has paid for the lead generation you purchased.  Not bad!

I decided to write this article because I was helping someone with his pay-per-click campaigns, as I often do for people.  He wanted to setup a campaign and wanted to know how to do so without having to spend a lot of money.  Does this sound familiar?  Who wants to spend a lot of money when you can spend a small amount and still get the same results?  After helping him, he stated that I should create a video or an article showing people what I know in regards to pay-per-click.  I thought about it and I decided “why not”.  I have had success using pay-per-click whereas many online professionals have not and I would like to help those who are struggling.

Set A Budget:


To generate pay-per-click free leads, you first need to set a budget.  To establish your budget, you not only want to set the amount of money you want to spend per day, you also want to decide how much you are willing to spend for each lead.  I usually set a budget of about $300-$500. I prefer to spend $3.00 or less per lead.

Once you have your budget and lead cost established, then you want to think about what the focus of your campaign will be.  In other words, you want to focus on who a target market.  Since I am in the home business / internet marketing / network marketing arena I will select keywords relevant to these topics.  I don’t make my niche market to broad.  I try to keep it as narrow as possible. For instance, “internet online business”, “starting a small business”, or “online business system”, just to name a few, are specific, not broad.

The keywords used are usually either long tail or money tail keywords.  If you select short tail keywords, then, again, you are creating a campaign that is too broad.  If you create a broad campaign, use a lot of negatives and continue to add negatives to narrow the focus of your campaign so that you are not spending money on keywords that are burning money. .

Free Lead Generation Tools:


I have purchased tools to help me help me with my pay-per-click campaigns, but you don’t have to. Assuming that you are on a very tight budget, you probably would like to use free tools and there are a number of them to pick from. They include:

  • Google Keyword Tool helps me to find keywords relevant to my main keyword.
  • Google Insights lets me see what other keywords I can use in my campaign, but better yet, it also can indicate which keywords to use as negatives.
  • Google Trends, gives me some idea on how that keyword is doing overall and it informs me of the countries, cities, and languages are using the keywords.  I focus on countries and cities.
  • Google Search allows me to locate other keywords to use in my campaign or to use as a negative in my campaign.


Using Google Keyword Tool and Other Tools:

When I use the Google Keyword Tool, I try to select relevant keywords that will cost me around $3.00.   There is a column that gives on, on average, the average cost per click of a particular keyword.  You will need to include the “Avg CPC” column to be added.  Volume should also be included.  Refer to both of these columns.  Once you are in the Google keyword tool, you have two choices.  Either select keywords that have a volume of 10,000 or more or select a lot of low cost keywords that don’t have as much volume.  For example, if my primary keyword is “starting a home business”, some of the keywords I see that cost around $3.00 and have volume of over 10,000, include “how to start a business”, “start own business”, “start business”, etc.  Keywords that are low-cost, cost around $3.00, have volume for the same primary keyword, include “starting an internet business”, starting a home based business, “homebased business”, etc.  For search marketing, I use exact and phrase keywords.  For content marketing, I use phrase and broad.  For each, be sure to include your negatives. The Google Keyword Tool also gives you a list of negatives.

Another way to select keywords is to use Google and put in your keyword, then look at your competition.  There is a free tool that you can use to look at what keywords are being used by the top sites.  Sometimes this tool will show you the keywords and other times it will not, but when you do find the keywords used by your competitor, include it into your campaign.  The tool I am referring to is called, “Free Meta Keywords Tool“.  Do a search on this and you should be able to find it.  You should see the name “Apogee web consulting” at the top.  I have successfully used this tool.  Another tool I have used is called Textanz.  I use this tool to analyze frequency of phrases that are relevant to my keyword.

One other way to look at the keywords of your competitors is to use the Google Keyword Tool.  Take the website of your competitor, click on the website content button, and put in the website address.  Look for keywords that fit your criteria; low cost, less competition.

Using Google Insights:

Google Insights gives more insight on how a keyword is doing.  I use this tool to decide on whether a keyword is profitable.  The information provided is shown with a graph.  Be sure you are looking at the last 90 days. Using “starting a home business” as an example, the graph shows me that it looks to be a keyword to use in my pay-per-click campaign.  I see also that the United States is the only country that has an interest, so the U.S will be the country I would select to market to.  It also shows me keywords that I can either add to may campaign or add as a negative.

To verify whether this is a good keyword to use, I will also type this keyword into google search.  The results of my search show me that the keyword has a high volume, which is not what I want.  I want a keyword that has less than eight ads and a lower volume, preferably less than 500,000.  Why? Because it will be easier to include my ad on the first page of Google and I will have a better chance of a prospect taking a look at my ad.  If you are unable to find a keyword from your list of keywords that fits all of the criteria of being low cost and having less competition, then you can either continue using the keyword you have selected or select another primary keyword.

Using Google Trends:


The next tool I use is Google Trends.  This tool provides information on, not only how the keyword is performing, but how the keyword is performing for each country.  You can click on the links of the countries and see whether there is more information associated with that country.  If there is, I will include it into my campaign as a country to market to.  If I don’t see any results, I will not include.  It is your choice how you want to use this tool.  If you get results by clicking on the country, you will see what sub regions and cities have an interest.  If you want to market to certain cities, this would be one tool you can use as well as Google Insights.  For my keyword, “starting a small business”, I see the United States and United Kingdom are two countries that have an interest in this keyword.

Improving Return On Investment (ROI) :

Once you have your campaign up and running, you will need to track your account stats.  Check on your stats and create customized reports.  Keep a close eye on your keywords. If you have a limit of $3.00 per lead, then any keyword that is $4.00 and above, shutdown or delete.  This enables you to stay within you budget.  Monitor closely your campaign; especially in the beginning.

Monitor your ads and websites.  Add keywords and add negatives as you are monitoring your campaign. To include additional keywords, often times, I will input the keywords into the Google keyword tool that were generated when I first entered my primary keyword.  You can either add them to the same ad group or create another ad group.  I like to create another ad group just to separate the various keywords in their own group. Don’t forget to remove any keywords that are just costing you money.

Over time, you should start to see which keywords are your money keywords; the ones generating you the most clicks, conversions, and return on investment.  Often, I will use the money keywords to create a separate campaign.  If you are using Search, you have to pause or delete the keyword from its original campaign.  If you are using Content, the keyword can remain within its original campaign.  But, try to avoid using duplicate keywords. Google only shows one ad per advertiser on a particular keyword. There is no need to duplicate keywords in different ad groups or campaigns.  By doing this, you enhance the performance of your campaign.  Because you know which ads, keywords, and website is working, you should generate more leads and conversions.

With everything that was just explained, your cost per lead should be around $3.00 and you should be generating revenue and profits, which means you are generating pay per click free leads.  I know that the research seems to be a lot of work, but the work is necessary.  The initial step of researching for keywords will get you started in the right direction.  All that remains now is to continue to modify and test your campaigns to get the results you are looking for.

Choosing To Advertise Ezine Online

Choosing to advertise ezine in the right places can make or break a business. If a business correctly identifies the correct places to advertise in then it could easily get a head start on its competition. It’s always difficult to know exactly how and where to advertise, often it’s a case of trial and error.

It is very easy to advertise ezine online and it can be very profitable. Many people think the best choice is advertising in ezines, they are pretty much hassle free. The only problem is that there are many ezines out there how do you correctly identify which one you should advertise in? But actually it’s fairly easy.

How much can you afford to spend on advertising? You should consider how much you can justify spending so that you can find appropriate places to advertise in. You can buy as little as one weeks worth of advertising, but once you’ve tracked down the right ezines you might as well pay for a months inclusion.

When you buy an ad, you can see just how well it performs for you. If it doesn’t seem to increase sales then just drop it. Perhaps you could ask your visitors to quote a code when they purchase from you, so you know which advert they used to find your site.

Try to keep your ads unique and interesting nobody will pay attention to your ad if it’s the same as all the others!

Try to look at the current number of people who subscribe to the ezine, don’t be fooled with the start date subscribers, what you’re interested in is today’s statistics.

Look how many adverts are allowed in each issue of the ezine, you don’t want to be included in a ezine that’s just completely full of ads now do you? Have a look at a recent copy and decide if it suits your image.

Finally look at the price of the ad, but relate it to the distribution of the ezine. If the ezine is sent to many people then it should be worth paying a higher price.

Ezine Or Newsletter Writing

A newsletter can either be printed on paper, or just send by email. Email newsletters are brilliant for advertising because they are very low cost to send out and you get to use your trusty autoresponder again!

Newsletters should be free, and they are designed to keep the customer interested in your company and services. It’s very easy to forget about a company but it’s more difficult if every month you receive an interesting newsletter that reminds you about the company name.

A newsletter is a great way to build a reputation because by producing a newsletter you are helping solve people’s problems, and so you are seen as an expert. People trust experts, and so will be more likely to buy from you than one of your competitors.

Newsletters can be very far reaching, the key is to make it very interesting try and load it with facts and maybe a solution or some tips. This way you could possibly even get people talking about your newsletter.

A great idea is to ask your subscribers to write for you, not only does it save you writing so much it also makes them feel involved, people love feeling involved in something, and people really like seeing their name in print. If you write a tip that somebody sent in with their name on then it’s fantastic, it’s a really good idea to try and get audience participation.

It’s important to realize who you are writing for, bear this in mind and try to think what sort of language and layout you should use.

Humor is very good at creating links with the reader, use humor but use it carefully don’t be sarcastic or exaggerate.

Newsletters and ezines are fantastic ways to publicize your site, I’m sure if you use them wisely you will increase both the traffic and the sign ups to your site.

Press Release Distribution Tutorial

Prior to the internet, there were relatively few outlets for news.  There was television, newspaper, radio, and word of mouth.  Today, with the popularity of the internet, there are now plenty of outlets for news.  There are also numerous websites that report the news on a daily basis.

But even with the extra outlets you have available, there is still the problem of how to get the word out.  There’s more than ever, people who are trying also to get the word out; so there is a lot of competition for advertising using the internet.

In order to get others to be interested in your press release, they must first become aware of it.  It would be very disappointing to spend hours writing your press release only to discover that nobody cares about what you have written because no one is aware of its existence.

The easiest way to distribute your press release is to submit them to various press release services. There are many available and many of them are free.  For example, Free press Release, PR Log Press Release, Newswire, just to name a few, are free.  Distributing your press release to the various online press release services requires that you follow the rules specfied by each press release service because they are all different.

Some press release services require you to use only a certain amount of keywords.  Other criteria might be that your press release must be at least a certain length and/or the title can only be a certain length, and there are many other types of rules and regulations, but do not let this intimidate you.  Press releases are a great way to advertise your business.

There are just a few press release distribution tips that I want to share. After all, this article is supposed to be a press release distribution tutorial.  The tips below are actions I have taken that lead many of my press releases to show up at the top of the search engines and many still remain at the top five or six months later.

  1. 1. First, there is the usage of keywords.  If you do not know how to apply keywords to your press release so that your press release shows up on the first page of google, yahoo, msn, or whatever other search engine you are using, then you will be wasting your time.  I suggest that you spend some time on learning how to effectively use keywords for your press release.Finding the right keywords starts with choosing a topic and selecting keywords that are relevant to your topic.  I usually will select a long tail keyword that is relevant to my topic of my press release because you can generate multiple keywords from just that one long tail keyword.  This is just something for you to start with before you venture into learning about keywords.  It sounds harder than it actually is. Once you learn the skills of keyword usage, it will open doors to many other types of advertisements because so many rely on knowing about keywords.

  2. Next, is the content. Starting out, you will discover that you do not know how to write a press release.  Most people start out where you are.  That is ok.  You have heard of the saying, “Practice Makes Perfect”. In almost everything we do, if you want to become good at something, you must first practice.  By continuing to write more press releases, you will find that it will take less time to create press releases.

    I suggest also that you look at your competitor’s press release; the ones who are in the top five or top ten.  By reading your competitor’s press release, those who are doing well, you will learn a lot. Look at the words used and the titles created, as well as the conclusion. These areas are of great importance because they are the things that grasp the readers attention and will arouse his or her interest.

    In situations like this, you will find yourself learning as you go, but isn’t this also true with starting a business?  In starting anything, there has to be a beginning and it is early in the game that we, as entrepreneurs, struggle.  Often times, you will find yourself learning by the seat of your pants.  Just hold on and try to enjoy the ride. It does get better as you get better.

    For instance, I used to write a press release every day.  After a few months, I was seeing more of my press releases on the first page of Google.  Soon, my press releases were showing up at the top of the search engines and with little effort on my part.  Yet, I started exactly where you are.  I knew nothing about press releases.  But still I managed to learn doing exactly what I explained above and generated lots of leads from my press releases.

  3. A third tip for press release distribution, because you will be submitting to more than one press release, change the title for each of your press releases, as well as your summaries.  For example, say that every day, you submit a press release to ten different press release services.  This means that you create ten titles and ten summaries.  You can also change the wording around in your content, but it really isn’t necessary.  Often, my press releases would all be on the first page of Google, one after another.  So, when engaging in press release distribution, changing the title and summary is really all that is necessary.

These are only a few suggestions, but they are the key elements that has lead many of my press releases to become ranked at the top of the search engines.  Press release distribution success starts by choosing a topic, followed by selecting keywords that are relevant to that topic and creating multiple titles and summaries for each of the press release you submit.

In the beginning, you may feel a little intimidated, but keep moving forward.  As you practice, your skills will grow as well as your confidence.  Never let difficulty in learning something new hold you back.  If you did this, then you would never grow as a person or as a business owner.  Learn as much as you can while you are early in the business building process.  In time, once your skills and knowledge about business building improve, you will find yourself enjoying spending time working on your business.

How To Earn Six Figure Income Online

There is a saying that has been around longer than the home business era. It does have a wealth of truth to it.

The saying is simply this:

“Those who fail to plan, plan to fail”

The saying is true; especially when it comes to growing an internet business.  If you don’t carefully plan a business strategy, you will become another one in the long line of those who fail.

Some estimates show that as many as 95%-97% fail in online businesses.

One of the major contributing factors to failing is the failure to set a realistic plan in motion.

My intentions here are to prevent this from happening to you. (Of course, you will have to do your part too).

I am going to give you a fool-proof, 3-step system for building a 100K/year business on the internet.

I will also give you some very specific action steps for you to take starting today to begin growing your own business.

I think you will be astounded on how simple a system it is to use.  You probably will be a bit amazed (maybe even frustrated or angry) that someone hasn’t shown you all of this before..

Perhaps the best thing about this system is it doesn’t matter who you are, what “niche” you are involved in, or what kind of business you are building.

It works for…

  • Anyone selling ebooks
  • Anyhow selling physical information products.

In fact, if you are selling anything on the internet and if you put it into action, this plan will work for you.

Let me share something with you. Every single day, I receive new offers from business owners either through email or by phone or some other method, like skype.  They send me information on a new “program of the month” and urge me (and you) to get it while the gettin’ is good. I have had them make statements like the following:

  • I’ll probably die in my sleep tonight if I don’t jump today.
  • Or maybe I’ll disrupt the earth’s gravitational pull and destroy the world if I don’t send my $39.95 immediately.
  • There’s no time to waste.
  • This is a sure thing.
  • They had 84 new signups in less than 24 hours.
  • Forget about everything else that was said in the past, this is the one.

Those 84 new sign-ups that occurred in less than 24 hours, about two days later, they become confused. “Was I supposed to promote this program or is it time to move on to the next one?” “Which one is better?” “There is no way I can be a member of 15 programs and there’ no way I could promote them all even if I had the money, so which one should I try to use?”

Eventually, they move on and on and many of the business owners and persons of influence continue to get rich off the sales they make.

But yet, there are “can’t miss” opportunities being promoted every day.  Whatever the newest and the latest program is…everybody’s sending their emails and playing the game repeatedly.  And the individuals making any money are the ones who come up with the new programs and products and the ones who send out the urgent messages to their members.

No wonder the failure rate is so high.  It should not be a surprise to anyone that the overwhelming majority of folks trying to do business online quit without earning any money.

But I will provide you with a solution and it is fairly simple…

1.  You only have so much money and so much time to invest.  Where will it be?  If someone is bombarding you with new programs to join and new products to buy every day, then unsubscribe and find someone else to teach you the ropes.  You can’t join and buy all of them.  I don’t know about your financial situation, but I do know that all of us only have 24 hours a day.  You can’t effectively do everything.

2.  It really does not matter whose program you join, but it is important that you decide what you want to do.  Make a decision.  Formulate a game plan.  Think about where do you want to go?  How much do you want to earn?  How much can you do it?  Find someone who is willing to invest their time in YOU.  How many individuals bombard you with their offers are actually available to answer your questions and guide you along the way and mentor you?  And how many cut you loose once they have your money.  Find a mentor or some type of system to join; one that will train you, work with you. Find someone or something that will invest in YOU before you invest in them.

3.  Lastly, stop jumping on the bandwagons as they come passing by.  I know there will be more bandwagons.  There will be new programs and products coming your way every day.  Resist the temptation to continue going from one to the next.  You’ll never get any momentum at all if you quit one thing to start the next thing.  All you will end up doing is wasting your time and your money.  You have to setup a plan.  YOU may have to modify it from time to time, and even add to it…but stick to it.  Realize that every time you quit one thing to start the next, that you have wasted your time and money that you spent on the previous opportunity.

Earning an income online isn’t difficult…but it can be confusing if you don’t follow these simple rules.  There are times that I have to tell myself “no” when a new offer comes surfaces.  I stick to my plan.  I know where I a going and I’m not going to be derailed by the latest and greatest to come down the pipeline.

You need some MOMENTUM in your business; something to keep you pushing.  You need your business moving forward. Yes, it will be slow in the beginning, but if you continue to push, sooner or later, you will begin to see results surfacing from your efforts.

So, let’s discuss the plan.  “What does it take to grow my business and earn more profits?

There is a simple formula that you can use to measure how well you are reaching your potential prospects.  MLSP has talked about this numerous times about metrics and measure.  In fact, this is something you should apply to all of your marketing.  It is referred to as analytics.  I will discuss more about this at another time.

Now, your plan.

“What is required to grow your business and generate more profits?”

In studying other successful online entrepreneurs, I find that there are three simple elements to growing any business and making more money.

  1. Increase Your “Market Reach”

The first element to making more money from your business is to “increase your market reach”.  That is, you need more exposure among your targeted audience.  Your business needs to be in front of as many prospects as it possibly can be.

On the internet there are many customers who would ever possibly be interested in your products or services.

There is a maximum number of people on the internet who have the potential of doing business with you.

You job is to find as many of them as humanly possible.  You want your marketing to reach as many of them who might do business with you.

There is actually a simple formula that you can use to measure how well you are doing reaching your potential customers.

The formula for market reach on the online is:

Site Traffic + List Size = Market Reach

Growing you business is based on the number of visitors that arrive at your site and how many subscribers you have on your list.

Here is an example:

How To Generate Google Lead Quality?

One metric that everybody wants to optimize how to attain top Google campaign performance. In other words, what is going to put the most dollars, revenue, and return on investment (ROI) generated from a place where you can afford to spend money on Google?

Most people just want to make more money.  You want to make more money and you want to do more with your sales opportunities.  This is going to be your based on Google lead quality.

Lead quality is most likely the last metric that you can optimize. The simple reason is that your quality is something that is determined over time.  It is also determined by the actions taken within your sales funnel.

When it comes to sales driven marketing, what you will discover is that a sales driven marketing is an ongoing process and it requires feedback from the sales funnel to be truly effective.

It not as if you can just monitor quality on only your conversion rates within your campaign. Your conversion rates are a key indicator of what is happening in your campaigns as well as a key indicator of your prospect’s interest levels, but conversion rates are not the end all be all of sales conversion.

To truly improve on generating lead quality you must work on what happens beyond the google campaigns; meaning within your sales funnel.  This is where you are building a relationship with your leads using an autoresponder, phone, newsletters, and more.  The results from your sales funnel are feedback that enable you to track what is selling and where the profitability lies.

The one thing to keep in mind is that campaigns with a high CTR (Click Through Rate) and a high conversion rate, is going to be reflective of a high level of interest in your offer and these are the metrics you are always trying to optimize at the campaign level. A person with a high level of interest in the ad is due to the offer being clearly defined.  At the landing page, you notice a high level of prospects generated from a specific keyword, ad group or campaign are always converting at the click rate and lead rate.

It is going to be indicated that you have a high potential within the campaign for sales conversions.  But you have to be looking at the quality outside the campaign.  What this is going to be is what percentage of those leads are generated that actually create true sales opportunities.  Which ones are sales ready and which ones want to talk to a sales person, sign up with a sales person, or actually purchase a product?

How many of those leads convert on the back end?  Again, I am referring to your sales funnel.  How many of those leads, not only make an initial purchase but make repeat visits, repeat purchases.  Optimizing outside of your Google campaigns is a process.  It does require a level of analytics the is a much more advanced form of Google marketing. In fact, it is the Google marketing that will produce the largest results in profits.  But, if you are just in your campaigns and you want to improve your quality while engaging in your performance metric, you can be looking at many various elements. The main thing is going to be keyword quality.

Once you have determined that you have a high quality keyword, everything is going to occur on the back end; outside of the Google funnel and directly into your sales funnel which leads to the interaction within the sales funnel.

Take for example, you are in your Google account and you want to make some good decisions in terms of profitability and lead quality.  If you see a low conversion rate on a keyword and you are trying to determine whether it is right for your business, this indicates that something needs to be adjusted in you funnel, landing page message or ad copy.

When you are making these types of decisions, it is important to first look at the keyword and ask yourself these questions; “Is the keyword specific enough?”.  This is a key question because even if you have a good keyword, your prospects’ may be in the browsing behavior.  People may just be browsing on that keyword and it is not specific enough to actually convert to a sale.

Once a prospect queries maybe two or three times in the later, they are becoming sales ready and you are going to miss this opportunity. Thus, first is the keyword specific enough?  The second question you want to ask yourself is, “Does it clearly define my product or service?”  This is another key element.  Is this keyword specific enough?  Is it an order taking keyword?  Is it showing a specific demand for my products and services in this keyword query?  Does your keyword clearly define what you do?

More importantly, are people searching for this keyword?  Even if the keyword defines what you do, are people interested in your specific offer?  This is where you can go and view your competitor’s business models and their landing pages, ad copy, and see what offers drive your market.  It is not just about what is in your campaign, but has a lot to do with the offer itself.  Certain offers, people are known to be more responsive to due to certain keywords.  So, ask yourself this question, “Are people searching for this keyword interested in my offer?”; meaning the in the way it is structured, the timing, and how it is put together.

Next, ask yourself this question, “Are prospects looking for exactly what I have here?” This is taking it further than just defining your product or service.  “Are people looking exactly for the business solution that I am offering?”  Most prospects have a specific problem and they are searching to find a solution to their problem. Does your product or service meet their needs?  Does your landing page make this clear and if it does, you need to ask yourself this question.  This is because if your landing page is making it very clear on what you are offering and your leads are still not responding, they may not be looking for exactly what you are offering.

Another question to ask yourself is “Is this keyword attracting the right audience?”  There is a right and a wrong audience.  Depending on the price point of your product, the one thing you are going to have to be sure of is can the audience afford your product; that your audience is not a low quality audience.  Low quality audience does not mean a low quality person, it just means that they don’t have everything that they need to move forward with you in the sales funnel.  They cannot become a sales opportunity because they can’t afford your product.

So, asking yourself, “Is the person on the other side of your search term going to be the right customer for your business?”  “Is he or she going to be a good fit?”  If you can answer these questions honestly, you will gain insight into your keywords, ad group, and market quality.  This will help you determine the campaign performance metric.  “Is your campaign performing at a high quality level?” “Is there a high likelihood, based on your campaign performance, that the leads you create, will produce sales?”

If you are struggling in your current business opportunity, joining another opportunity is not going to improve your predicament.  You will struggle in your new opportunity also.  The problem is not the network marketing company you have joined. The problem actually exists within you.  The problem I am referring to are your lack of marketing skills.  Do you know how to attract people to you?  How many leads do you generate per day or have you ever generated any leads?  As a network marketer you should know how to generate your own leads and a MLM or network marketing company will not teach you this, thus, it is going to be up to you to figure out how to market your business; either by joining some kind of marketing system, or just studying other top marketers and copy what they do.  I suggest you do both to get the best results.

The future of the internet is not about traffic it is about conversion.  As more people start to get involved in pay per click marketing, the competition is getting harder and the traffic gets more competitive, you should be focused on your conversion and how much money you can keep in your pocket.

More traffic means higher costs and without an increased profit and ROI, having more traffic is not going to be beneficial. As you move past campaign optimization into analytics, you want to stop focusing on increasing your traffic and lowering your costs and start focusing on increasing your conversions and maximizing your profit.

To accomplish this and achieve better results in your business, you need to ask yourself bigger questions.  You need to start asking questions that may not be answered in a day, in a week, but these are the questions that will put the most money in your pocket and bring your business closer to succeeding. It will put you far ahead of your competition by asking these bigger questions and take on these bigger challenges to get the bigger results that they are going to deliver.

To optimize for conversions, it is about focusing on what happens after the click, not before the click. This is referred to as post click conversion.  In this process, you will be focused on your landing page performance, your sales funnel, your customer support, and your follow up.  These are the components that increase conversions.  During the optimization process, we often function from a place we have sent a number of prospects to your website and about 10% have made a purchase. Your next goal should be to send more customers to your website and double the amount that make a purchase.  This is a great strategy for an intermediate marketer. This is also a great way to get your Google Adwords account off the ground; by delivering traffic at a descent cost that will allow you to convert the leads you generate.

As you move past basic optimization, it is time to ask the other question.  The question is not how to deliver another 100 prospects to your website, instead you want to ask yourself, “If only 10% made purchases, what happened to the rest of your visitors, where did I go wrong?”  “Where in my message or landing page, or click pass or conversion pass did I miss closing these deals” “What can I do next time to improve my conversion rate?”

Thus, instead of trying to get more visitors to your website, you should be focused on how to convert more of the visitors that visit your website.  The only way to increase revenue and sales is my maximizing your conversions.

When you get good at optimization, you are going to get all of the traffic you want from your pay per click search engine marketing.  As you tap into new markets and new keyword opportunities, you are going to get to a place where you traffic isn’t going to increase in big leaps. The only way to increase your income or profit is going to be by working on your conversion rates inside your marketing system and increasing the profitability that you drive through you sales funnel versus trying to go out and acquire more traffic.

In conclusion, don’t ask the question, how can I get more traffic.  Ask the question, what makes people buy.
